Over the next few weeks I will be listing many early (mid/late 1800s) and rare steam gauges from an advancedprivate collection. Some are diaphragm gauges and unless noted otherwise, all respond to air pressure, although I can not attest to their accuracy. Check back often to see great pieces.
From my 1916 KNOTT Scientific Instrument Catalog:
DEMONSTRATION PRESSURE AND VACUUM GAUGE with silvered metal graduated ...scale; highest quality, glass front permitting full view of the mechanism.
Up for auction is a later model (estimated 1920s) as it features both a glass front and rear, and nickeled case. Scale is 30-0-150. Needle responds to air and I suspect it is accurate. Beautiful polished brass Bourdon tube and movement. As pressure is admitted, the tube slightly straightens and thru the linkage a rack and pinion move the needle to the point on the number dial. A great teaching device. Features the original base and valve, both marked KNOTT BOSTON. Rarely found in this very nice condition.
