Some excellent quality bracket clocks please keep your eyes open over the next few months THE CASE To start with i just want to give you a bit of information on the superb london clock maker. The clock was made by Sir John Bennett of Cheapside London who is a well recorded clock maker, he started in C1846 and later became a local politician as well as the "Sheriff of London & Middlesex" & "Lord Lieutenant of the city of London" and was Knighted as part of the celebrations for the recovery of the Prince of Wales in 1871 from typhoid. Sir John Bennett was also a "Liveryman" of the Spectaclemakers, clockmakers and Loriners companies. You can google him for any more information you may want This clock is a very rare outstanding antique English cathedral carved solid oak triple fusee musical 4 bell bracket clock of superb proportions and of the highest quality imaginable, the clock is in excellent condition for age with a fabulous colour and patina
The case features a gothic cathedral design with carved turret spire finials with its original finish that looks absolutely amazing on display with hand carved decorations to top and base with matching carved fretwork sounding doors on either side with glass panels behind them which is a nice feature and not often seen with glass behind them, all the carved decoration is of the highest quality and all in excellent condition
The case is in excellent condition for age with a fabulous colour and patina to the oak with a hinged carved glazed front door and a hinged back door as well as the 2 smaller side doors through which you can see the fusee movement working away, all the doors have there original working locks and keys
The solid oak case has a stunning colour and patina to it which is acquired through age. This is exactly how i have received it and it looks 100% more impressive in the flesh
THE DIAL The clock features a engraved gothic style silvered dial with roman numerals and original hands, the dial is in excellent condition 2 subsidiary dials to the top, one for the regulation and the other for the choice of silent or chime. The dial is signed by the clockmaker Bennett of 63 & 65 Cheapside London
THE MOVEMENT The clock has an absolutely fantastic English triple fusee musical chain driven movement chiming the Westminster chime on 4 bells. The quarter chiming musical chimes every quarter of an hour on 4 bells and the hourly strike on a separate gong on the hour after the musical chimes have finished playing
The movement is very clean and is in perfect working order chiming superbly and ticks away beautifully and the chimes are like music to the ears as you can see and hear in the video above The movement is of outstanding quality and all in excellent original working condition and has recently been cleaned and serviced
The movement comes with its original pendulum all working fantastically keeping perfect time as you would expect from a high quality clock
MEASUREMENTS The clock measures 26.25 inches high x 18 inches wide x 10.5 inches deep and looks super impressive wherever it is displayed APPROX DATE Circa 1860 This is a perfect investment clock and a beautiful display piece. Looks absolutely fantastic wherever it is displayed and a true talking point of any room. No matter how well antique clocks have been serviced they will need final adjusting and setting into beat after transport and a professional person is advised and may be required in order to do this so please bear this in mind before bidding
If on the rare occasion you receive a clock that has a problem or does not work after initial set up and adjusting by a professional person then we reserve the right for you to return the mechanism for repair by myself
There will be no refunds if the mechanism needs repair. I reserve the right for the mechanism to be returned to me for repair
I offer a 6 months return to base warranty on all my mechanisms (unless stated not working in description)
In case of a problem after a professional has attempted to set the clock up you can return the mechanism back to me for repair
Please do not take the mechanism to a local clock maker/repairer as this will render the warranty void. All repairs needed to the mechanism will be carried out by myself and not by a 3rd party clock maker/repairer unless agreed by myself beforehand. please contact me in the first instance to arrange return of the mechanism for repair by myself
Shipping the mechanism back to me will be at the buyers cost and i will pay to get the mechanism back to you after repair
All repair costs will be met by myself for 6 months after purchase. If a mechanism is faulty after 6 months then i can offer a repair service for a discounted price but this cost will be met by the buyer if after 6 months of purchase
