The band's most successful release, The Dark Side of the Moon spent 741 consecutive weeks (14 years) on the USA-based Billboard 200 album chart, the longest duration of ANY album in history. Additionally, the album holds the record of spending the highest amount of time on the Billboard charts, staying there for more than 1, 500 weeks (that’s almost 29 years). It is one of three albums tied for the claim of second highest selling album globally of all time, selling over forty million or more units. In addition to its commercial success, The Dark Side of the Moon is often considered to be the group's defining work, and is still frequently ranked by music critics as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time.Sales of the album worldwide total over forty million as of 2004, with an average of 8, 000 copies sold per week and a total of 400, 000 in the year of 2002 — making it the 200th best-selling album of that year nearly three decades after its initial release.

A great complete 1st pressing of what is undoubtedly one of the most iconic albums of the 20th century!!!
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:Yes – brilliant! - TOP AUDIO A simply incredible 1st Ever pressing of Pink Floyd's masterpiece, with a great audio performance.Dark Side Of The Moon is a musical masterpiece and is also famously a very sensitive piece of vinyl. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like ‘On The Run’. I am a huge fan of DSOTM, and also highly critical of the audio performance. I just cant stand to hear a pressing that is worn or plays with anything other than great clear sound. I am very pleased to say that this rare 1st pressing plays through with great, very bright un disturbed audio. This great record plays superbly throughput. There is not a single repetitive click, tic or pop, it really is a tremendous example and plays with a deep full bassy sound. Strong audio free of any loud pops or clicks. It has not been over played, in fact its barely been played at all; two or three times only. The channels are clean and unstressed and there is not even a hint of distortion anywhere on the record. There is very little light occasional static, and juts a little static at the very start of the record. The audio plays through with brilliant, strong and clear sound. It plays with great audio, peaking at MINT condition. This is a great 1st pressing of Dark Side of the Moon, with NO obvious spots of interference, it is an incredible listen. I will give a detailed account below:

This great sounding record starts with surprisingly little static in that famous extremely long run in heart beat intro to 'Speak to Me'. There is some static there during the introduction, before the music starts, but nothing obtrusive. Great clear sound, the track plays superbly with barely a single light tic (the kind found on all vinyls) and no light pops at all. 'Breathe', another delicate track also sounds fantastically clear and the whole of the first side really plays with incredibly clear audio throughout. 'On the Run', so often heavily distorted and affected by clicks and hiss plays through with amazing clarity and bright loud sound.  Very little occasional static and NO occasional tics. A couple of very light tics between tracks only.'Time' sounds great with super clear sound, no loud pops of clicks and very little noticeable static. This track just sounds amazing, its so bright and clear, and so is 'Breathe (reprise)' which is such a delicate down track and very hard to find with even half way clear sound. Here its just brilliant. Even the stunning 'Great Gig in The Sky', such a difficult track to find with clear sound, plays superbly. No light pops or clicks, juts a little light static in the intro and at the end of the track. A great sounding record.

'Money' kicks in side 2. with great clear audio, not a single light pop or click. It plays with an amazing bassy, 'sonic' feel, the original sound that is very hard to find, and lost on most pressings. There is some static at the start and occasionally during the quiet areas, but nothing particularly obvious. 'Us and them' starts with very clear sound. There is no light static and no light tics. This track is nearly always plagued by loud pops, clicks,  static and even distortion, and this press has none of these, it just sounds clean and bright. 'Any Colour you Like' sounds superb, great clear sound. No background static and no light static tics. 'Brain Damage' sounds superb, bright clear sound leading to the albums climax, with a great pressing of 'Eclipse',  which plays superbly, with brilliant clear audio. No pops or clicks or interference at all. Just great, clear sound.

This record plays with staggering power, great audio with very little surface sound to distract from the enjoyment of this great album. Even at the end of 'Time' and the run in to the 'Great Gig In the Sky', it is clean, crisp and rich. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals, which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. This lp plays with superb, clear bright audio. I have given  a detailed account and l believe I have been unforgiving in pointing out the slightest audio interference on what is a great 1st ever pressing. I would give an audio grading of EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT!

THE RECORD – Visual Grading A stunning piece of glossy vinyl, this rare 1st press is really thick and chunky, with amazing deep clear grooves. In daylight and under a spot light it looks pretty much unmarked, and that is extremely unusual.  A couple of ultra faint, whispy pressing marks only, and they are really light. A really wonderful example that is virtually unplayed! A really great example. Graded at NEAR MINT.

THE LABELS A lovely set of labels, largely unmarked with a couple of very light spindle traces on either side. These are an great pair of labels that look like they've barely seen a turntable. A lovely set, they have no spindle wear, and certainly no writing, finer prints or other marks. Graded at MINT-.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER This 1st pressed BLUE Cover is quite simply near perfect, with virtually NO handling wear. It is completely flat, has no ring wear, very few creases or slight cracks. The 'blue' tint covers that came with the first pressings, quickly changed to the standard charcoal black covers. And don't be fooled, these are complex different to all other covers from the UK pressings of DSOM. These covers themselves are rare and very valuable, and so hard to find with out heavily worn edges, corners and surfaces. The Matt finish covers of  DSOM  have to be one of the most prone to wear, of all the classic vinyls from the sixties and early seventies. Having a dark matt finish and not having the advantage of being laminated, these covers usually faired pretty badly, with serious ring wear and scuffed along the edges. The spines are nearly always flattened, worn and scuffed. Not this one!

This 1st Press BLUE Cover has no scuffing to the corners, and no rubbing along the edges, and that is un heard of for DSOM. The opening edges are very square and un frayed, with there is no detectable ring wear on either the rear or front cover. There is the faintest impression on the record on the rear only but no actual ring wear loss of colour. The back cover is extremely clean, again with only a very light  impression of the vinyl. The inside Gatefold is clean with no handling marks. The Spine shows no wear only, and is a nice square example.  All round, this is a really amazing example that is largely unmarked.     And, this is an ORIGINAL 1st Press BLUE COVER, and a fairly light coloured one at that. Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS.

The album was originally released in a gatefold LP sleeve designed by Hipgnosis and George Hardie, and bore Hardie's iconic dispersive prism on the cover. The Cover design was aimed to represent three elements; the band's stage lighting, the album lyrics, and Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design. A spectrum of light moves through to the gatefold sleeve — an idea that Waters came up with.  Added shortly afterwards, the gatefold design also includes a visual representation of the heartbeat sound used throughout the album, and the back of the album cover. The light band emanating from the prism on the album cover has six colours, missing indigo compared to the traditional division of the spectrum into red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The concept was continued with two posters and a sheet of pyramid-themed stickers. One poster bore pictures of the band in concert, overlaid with scattered letters to form PINK FLOYD, and the other an infrared photograph of the Great Pyramids of Giza, created by Powell and Thorgerson. In 2003 VH1 declared that The Dark Side of the Moon had the 4th-greatest album cover of all time,  and in 2009 listeners of the UK radio station Planet Rock voted the packaging the greatest album cover of all time.

THE INNEROriginal plain black poly lined inner sleeve in great condition. No tears, stains and NO seem splits at all!!! The flip backs are fully intact, fully flat and pressed down. And don't be fooled, these are completely different to all other inner sleeves from the UK pressings of DSOM. These inners are themselves rare and valuable, and so hard to find with out heavy wear, graffiti, tears and splitting. Again it would be hard to better.Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS.

POSTERS  This 1st pressing of Dark Side of the Moon comes with BOTH original posters, in great condition. In flat MATT finish, these are not the same as the posters found in other pressings of DSOM. A superb set with No tears or stains. Nice crisp edges. NO tape marks or pin holes!Graded at NEAR MINT.

STICKERS The two original Fasprint CRACKBACK stickers, in Near MINT condition. No tears. Nice crisp edges. No tape marks or pin holes. The stickers will come in a separate envelope to ensure that they do not get bent or damaged. Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS.

The Dark Side of the Moon is the sixth studio album by Pink Floyd. The album was developed as part of a forthcoming tour of live performances, and premièred several months before studio recording began. The new material was further refined during the tour, and was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road Studios in London. Pink Floyd used some of the most advanced recording techniques of the time, including multitrack recording and tape loops. Analogue synthesisers were given prominence in several tracks, and a series of recorded interviews with staff and band personnel provided the source material for a range of philosophical quotations used throughout. The Dark Side of the Moon was an immediate success, topping the Billboard 200 for one week. It subsequently remained in the charts for 741 weeks (fourteen years), longer than any other album in history. With an estimated 45 million units sold, it is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums worldwide. It has twice been re-mastered and re-released, and has been covered by several other acts. The Dark Side of the Moon is one of Pink Floyd's most popular albums for fans and critics alike, and is ranked as one of the greatest vinyl albums of all time.

RARITYDark Side has been re produced in massive quantities, being one of the most iconic albums of the 20th century. On saying that, finding an original UK 1st pressing in great condition is extremely rare indeed. It is one of the hardest pieces of vinyl from the early 1970's to find with great audio. The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is a brilliant example. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any DSOM examples with a record in great condition, that plays superbly, is extremely rare. An ORIGINAL 1st ever A2 B2 press, with near flawless Audio, ORIGINAL 1st Press Blue Cover and ORIGINAL posters and stickers, all in virtually unmarked condition, with TOP audio throughout makes this a genuine rarity.

VINYLWe sell high quality examples of Classic Vinyl. Large format art work covers with the best original sound and mix unique to the original pressings, giving the highest audio depth and performance. Vinyl prices have soared over the last ten years, making classic examples a great financial and cultural investment.  .VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or interference. Even with the cleanest vinyl pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build up of dust and dirt in the wide vinyl grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Static build up can reduce when played, and we advise a clean between plays for optimal performance.
