Offered for sale is a lead glazed redware canister produced in southern New England, likely Connecticut, in the 18th or early 19th century. Its cylinder form is tapered in a short neck topped by a rolled rim. It is decorated with coggling around the upper body and circling the rim. The canister's deep red color is a natural result of the clear glaze and the fired clay beneath. A few glaze runs from the sides can be seen on the unglazed bottom. Having seen daily use long ago, there are ...a few chips to the base and a scrape on the shoulder visible in the photos. There are no cracks. The height is 6 inches and the base diameter is 4 1/2 inches. The item is guaranteed as described. Shipping at cost is by USPS Priority insured; no handling charge. I invite you to view other items I have listed. Thanks for looking, and enjoy the hunt.
