For sale is an unusual hanging lamp as follows. (Please review pictures in conjunction with this description for complete understanding.) Lamp measures approximately 9" in diameter by 8" tall (not including the hanging loop or chain) Entire shade appears to be hand-hammered with the repousse' and chased design in Art Nouveau/Arts and Crafts style of natural and organic forms. Design is of 6 tree-like branches snaking around the bottom of the shade an...d then curving to the top. The 6 panels framed by these tendrils are then further hammered with swirling designs, each panel containing 3 colored glass jewels. Based on this design I estimate the age to be sometime between the 1900's to the 1940's. The lamp is completely non-magnetic so I am guessing it is a patinated brass with a zinc reflective coating to the inside. CONDITION - is very good and very usable as-is. What I am selling here is basically the antique shade. I have wired it with a new bulb socket and hanging loop for display purposes (which will be included) but the main offer here is the shade. The shade is in mostly originally, as made condition with the following exceptions. 1) One jewel has been replaced with a faceted red jewel that I had in my shop. All other jewels are original polished half-rounds or half-ovals. 2) There are places where 4 hooks were soldered to the interior (probably to hold a hanging bead or cloth trim??). One of these hooks is missing. 3) a few areas where the brass patina is stained. None of these conditions detract from the immediate use and display of this lamp as-is, or you may choose to build an attractive desk or table-top lamp around this shade.
