For sale in this auction is Superman 1 CGC NG with slightly brittle pages published by DC in 1939. This issue features the origin of Superman. It also features the first time ANY comic book was solely devoted to just one superhero. (This is the first modern format comic book ever published. Before this comics were all just a series of individual strips/stories) So it may come as ...little surprise that this is the third most valuable comic book in the hobby behind only Action Comics 1 and Detective Comics 27! With a CGC 1.0 recently selling for over $110, 000 and a CGC 0.5 missing the back cover currently listed on another site for $90k, here is a chance for some lucky collector to finally add a copy to their collection at an "affordable" price.
CGC label reads "Conservation includes: pieces re-attached to interior, interior reinforced, centerfold reinforced. (cover & 1st wrap are color copies) incomplete."
Despite being coverless, the reproduction cover included has really nice eye appeal and truly does look authentic. Sitting on a shelf this really does look virtually identical to a $500, 000 comic! (Although obviously this one can be had for much less) If you are looking for an affordable copy of Superman 1 that you can still be proud to display, this is the one!!!!
