This is day two of this Extraordinary estate sale, one of the greatest auctions we have held in 15 years. This sale features an incredible array of investment grade Ming and Pre-Ming ceramics, items that are very hard to find today. We offered a small portion of this collection a couple months ago that brought s...ubstantial interest. Up for auction is a SUPERB EARLY CHINESE JUNYAO RED BLUE FLAMBE GLAZE SMALL SCHOLARS DISH. Very unique and intriguing example. Originally from the Professor Peter Greiner collection. For further provenance please see the large green Han dynasty vase also being offered in this week sale.
The dish is an incredible example with a superb and rich Junyao flambe glaze throughout. The glaze has a rich red color with blue accents and a nice white glazed outer rim. Not something just anyone could create! The dish is very old, very conservatively 18th century in age. My personal opinion, the dish is much older. A really special scholarly example.
Condition: Minor wear consistent with early age. Overall very fine no chips or cracks. Glaze nice and consistent throughout. All items checked under UV light to ensure no hidden damage.
Size: 3 1/4 inches wide, sits 1 inch tall.
