Discover Pickering/Stanton sound with unused stylus, i'm pretty sure you will be blown away by the sound quality.

The Pickering longhair Dustamatic Brush is decided asset on your XSV3000 cartridge. It operates on the principle that the rubbing action of the nylon bristles against the vinyl record groove surface creates an electrostatic charge which attracts the dust particles like vacuum cleaner. The brush is hinged directly to the stylus assembly and it cleans the groove automatically while its independent action never interferes with the tracking force.

The brush is removable, you can use your stylus with brush or without brush (up to you). All you need to know is the correct setting for both situations, see below:

Arm setting:
Balance the tonearm and mounted cartridge according to the turntable or tonearm manufacturer's instruction.

Arm setting with brush: 2 grams +/- 1/4
Resulting tracking force: 1 gram +/- 1/4
Arm setting without brush: 1 gram +/- 1/4

Remember:

1) The weight of the brush requires the setting of an extra gram, although the actual stylus force on the record is one gram less than the setting.

2) Additional skating force produced by the brush should be compensated for by increasing the anti-skating force setting to the same number as the tracking setting.

Pickering XSV-3000 represents the first in the development of a whole new generation of magnetic stereo cartridges. Its whole design concept is based on producing a cartridge which would have the highest possible ability to protect records. This requires a brand new tip shape ... the XSV-3000 has it ... it is the Stereohedron D3000. This demands a brand new magnet ... the XSV-3000 / D3000 has it ... a magnet of rare earth element, which, because of its enormous power, is far smaller than ordinary magnets. It also is positioned closer to the center of rotation for low inertia. D3000 also has an improved patented suspension. This new construction principles produce a cartridge whose performance is beyond compare.

I'm selling ONE genuine Pickering D-3000 Stereohedron stylus with Brush. Everything packed in its original plastic container, it's factory sealed. I haven't opened the box, you will get it SEALED as it is.

Please refer to the images. What you see is what you get.
Since this item is NOS (New Old Stock) and Factory Sealed i will not accept a return for whatever reason.
I hope you understand that factory sealed vintage styli has much higher market value and highly regarded among collectors.

But i want to assure you that i've never had any problems with this model of stylus, so you're buyin' a TOP quality product from me, i don't sell crap, check my feedbacks.

Stereohedron is one of the best stylus profiles ever made, since i am using higher models of the Pickering/Stanton cartridges i can sell my backup, because i don't have XSV-3000 / 881s cartridges any longer. But i can assure anyone that Pickering and Stanton high compliance moving magnet cartridges are amazing, i love them! Unfortunately used samples are not as good as the NOS samples, we can't use one stylus forever (unfortunately). Buy yourself this New Old Stock (factory selaed) replacement for the future and keep using excellent Pickering or Stanton cartridges.

If you're not yet an owner of Pickering cartridge, believe me it will be much easier to find cartridge body than NOS Stereohedron stylus. You can start with the stylus and later you will find cartridge body. Stylus is the most expensive part of the phono pickup system.

You might ask yourself why a Pickering stylus can be used for Stanton cartridges ?

Here is a bit of history for you:

Norman Pickering was a noted violinist. He invented the Pickering cartridge because he didn't like how violins sounded on other cartridges. So, he is thus far one of the cartridge designers in the USA besides Joe Grado who was also a musician. Pickering's factory manager was none other than Walter Stanton, who later went out on his own. By 1960, Mr.Stanton bought out Mr.Pickering. He later established Stanton Magnetics Inc in 1961. He was the chairman and president of both Pickering & Co and Stanton Magnetics Inc until 1998. Walter O. Stanton, the inventor of an easily replaceable phonograph stylus that was crucial to creating a consumer market for audio equipment. Stanton and Pickering carts are the same with interchangeable styli despite the very different looking plastic bits and brushes - the trick is figuring out the interchanging model numbers. Pickering XSV-3000 is equal to Stanton 881s, both comes with Nude Stereohedron diamonds on aluminum cantilevers. This is the most advanced stylus shape which is achieved by grinding four flat surface on the diamond at precise angles to each other and their intersection creates areas used to contact the groove. The advantage of the Stereohedron stylus is that because of it's long and narrow contact surfaces it tracks high frequency modulation minimizing groove wear.

Norman C. Pickering, an engineer, inventor and musician whose pursuit of audio clarity and beauty helped make phonograph records and musical instruments sound better. In 1945, Mr. Pickering, who enjoyed listening to records and was frustrated by the sound quality of recordings, developed an improved pickup — that is, the mechanism that includes the phonograph needle, or stylus, and translates the information in the groove of a record into an electrical signal that can be reproduced as sound. Originally His phono pickups were designed for use in broadcast and recording studios. 1947 the demand from high-fidelity fanatics was strong enough for what’s now called a ‘cartridge’ and Pickering & Company was formed to meet the new hobby’s demands. In 1948, Mr. Pickering was among the founders of the Audio Engineering Society, now an international organization that disseminates news and information about improvements in audio technology. By the mid 50's, the Pickering company employed more than 150 people at its Plainview, Long Island headquarters. The best models, however, were introduced only in the 70's and early 80's. Pickering XSV-3000 with nude Stereohedron stylus is one of the best, a few models with higher numbers are even better.
