This auction is for a rare Bicentennial Astatic Golden Eagle D-104 Microphone in the original box with all of the paperwork. This microphone was purchased from an estate sale and the original owner had an identical microphone which he had been using with all of his radio equipment and this microphone was stored away in its original box. The paperwork states that it has a 20K gold finish and it comes with a soft cleaning cloth which should be used to preserve the finish.&nbs...p; "The Golden Eagle, Astatic's limited production Bicentennial microphone commemorating our nation's 200th birthday, will be the most treasured microphone in the history of our country. The world famous Astatic D-104 microphone, emblazoned with the "Golden Eagle" , is mounted on a new Astatic 6 wire transistorized desk stand for universal hook-up applications. Both microphone and desk stand are beautifully plated in 20K gold to add the final touch of elegance." The box shows some shelf wear. I took this microphone to a vintage radio enthusiast to test it out, however, because it has a 2-pin connector, he was unable to test it. He believes this 2-pin connector dates back to the 1960's. He did test out the voltage with the volt meter and it tested out fine, however, without actually attaching it to a radio component, he was unable to test out the microphone itself. The gold finish is in beautiful condition with very minor wear in a few areas. The finish needs to be polished as it has been in storage for some time.
