Up for your consideration is the 1958 EICO Standard Speaker System, Model HFS-2 omidirectional speaker design by the legendary audio designer Stewart Hegeman. This speaker measures approximately 36" tall, 15" wide, 11.5" deep. This speaker is in very good working condition with no performance or electronic issues. The cabinet is in Walnut and shows signs of wear, however no significant damage. Original grill cloth that is intact with no rips or tears. Please refer to photos for cosmeti...c condition.This speaker contains its original "Hegeman Lilly Tweeter" and original 8" Hegeman-modified driver, which is back loaded using Hegeman's innovative split, slot loaded conical bass horn. The vast majority of EICO HFS-2 speakers have no longer survived because of how extremely delicate the tweeter and special whizzer attachment is. As a result, this speaker is extremely rare. Seldom do you find one in working condition with all of the original components. The sound from this speaker is unique and incomparable: open, and with a great sense of space. It engulfs you in sound from every angle; there is no sweet spot - everywhere is the sweet spot. The highs are light and airy. The mid-range is dynamic. In a very acoustically dry room you get solid bass down to about 47Hz. With the right placement, the bass extends down to the low 30Hz range. This is a very amazing speaker design to come out of the mono era and it will fill an entire room with incredible sound.This item will be carefully packaged and insured via FedEx for safe shipping.
