Offered here is a very nice example of the original baby Rolleiflex4x4. This is the model 4RF-410 which was launched in June 1931 and produced through late December 1932. Its serial number is 136804 which puts it a bit more than half way through the production run. As such it has a depth of field scale on the rear leaf of the viewing hood, a feature not found on the earlier cameras.Considering that it’s 87 years old, the cosmetic condition is quite good. There... is some paint missing on the left side of the viewer cover and along the sharp edges of the rear and bottom of the case. The leather is all intact without any tears or splits. It still has its plug that covers the red film frame viewer and the focusing magnifier is still in place.Functionally, the film advance mechanism is in good order and both taking and viewing lenses are nice and clear and unscratched. The taking lens is a Zeiss Tessar 3.5 and the viewing lens is the Heidoscop-Anastigmat 2.8. As is common with older cameras, the shutter is sluggish on the 1 and half second settings but looks to work very well from 1/10th second and faster.A lens cap and carrying case is included but please note some stitching has pulled out on the back of the carrying case. This is not only a relatively rare camera, finding one is this condition presents a great opportunity to add to your classic collection. It is still possible to source 127 film so this is a camera that can still be used today and will produce fine results. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
