RareZeiss Nedinsco ‘s Gravenhage Norwegian Army binoculars
Nedinsco...(Nederlansche Instrumenten Compagnie) was a Zeiss subsidiaryestablished in the Netherlands in 1921 to circumvent the Treaty ofVersailles thereby allowing Zeiss to manufacture military optics. Thefactory was in Venlo, but the business office was located in ‘sGravenhage which is why this name sometimes forms part of theNedinsco trademark as it does in this case. This particular set arerather rare in that they are also inscribed Norske Hær, theNorwegian Army. They are the standard Zeiss Silvamar 6x30 Dienstglasmodel. These are in very good original condition. They have some edgerubbing and surface deterioration of the paint, but the paint on thetop cover plates is good with clear inscriptions. The texturedcovering is undamaged and excellent. Both eye cups are original andare undamaged. The oculars focus smoothly but are rather stiffthrough lack of use. The optics appear to be undamaged but are dirtyand require cleaning. They are fitted with a very good leather neck strap.
