Images one throughthree show one of my stock specimen plant in a California greenhouse. The plant forsale is a well-established division shown in the fourth to sixth images, inpure NZ sphagnum moss and recently transplanted into a 5”/13 cm pot. This plant is currently pushing a new leaf, as is shown in the last image. I recommend this plant be left in its current setup until at least mid-spring 2020 when it can be staked and repotted into a permanent mix.Philodendronsquamicaule is a ...very showy climbing aroid ranging from the Caribbeanrainforests of the Nicaraguan border area of northeastern Costa Rica through middleelevation cloud forest in Panama, Colombia through to northeastern Ecuador. Thebest-known populations are those that have been photographed along theContinental Divide in western Panama, but plants in cultivation mostly appearto have originated from Ecuador and southern Colombia. There is variation amongthe different populations and some confusion with related species. The most attractive forms have almost steel blue leaveswith bright red, fuzzy petioles, main stems and inflorescences, hence a roughtranslation of its Latin name = “scaly stem”. This species, unlike some of itsclose relatives, seems to remain at fairly tame size for some time whencultivated indoors. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San FranciscoBay Area, California.Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail withtracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt ofpayment, weather permitting. 72-hour heat packs are available for an additionalUSD 6.00 eachSorry, no local pickup.Wherever possible, plants will beshipped in plastic pots.
