Featured in this auction is a magnificent flower vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There is mild peppering in the glaze. This tapered piece is a very tall and sleek 8-1/2", almost 4" wide at the shoulder, and 3" wide at the top rim. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2479 and the production year XXI... (1921). The vase features a beautiful, arts-and-crafts motif of a floral garland that encircles the top, lipped rim. This gorgeous underglaze is a deep, matte dusty-rose color with a matte green overspray. Glaze drips are visible just inside the mouth of the vase as well as stilt marks on the base. The vase does show some very-minor scuffing from gentle use. The interior shows mild staining, and the exterior is very clean. This vase is an excellent example of the arts-and-crafts aesthetic! Check out all 8 photos! This gorgeous vase is a stunning piece that would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.
