Chinese Antique Bronze Incense Burner Censer Xuande mark, Qing dynasty The cast vessel of compressed spherical body (bombè) supported on three long legs, the rim surmounted by a pair of arched 'U'-shaped handles, the base cast in kaishu with a apocryphal Xuande six-characterreign mark (19thcentury).

The condition is fine, consistent with the estimated age and the material used. Some wear to body and casting ...faults internally, as expected.
Additional information A near identical piece in both form and dimension, albeit it being gilt, was sold at Bonhams, Asian Art, Nov 2018 (picture attached). The present piece would subsequently be a good investment if gold plated. Apocryphal Xuande period reign markFor hundreds of years Chinese artisans copied reign marks from earlier dynasties out of a respect and reverence for these earlier periods.The Xuandeperiod is acknowledged as a high point in the production of bronze works of art, and the vast majority of bronze censers made during the 17thand 18thcenturies have Xuande marks to their bases.
