I wasn't thinking to sell this violin but the sudden need for a new a/c system forces my hand. :(
This violin comes with no papers but everything (including Sotheby's catalog), points to a 19thC Italian violin from Naples. The concensus is that it is probably the work of Pascuale Ventapane whose workmanship wasn't that great but he knew what was important. Condition not perfect but it seems original in all parts - scroll is grafted to modern neck. Nice honey colored origin...al varnish.LOB 357.5mm

It bears a Gagliano label which reads 'Joseph Gagliano filius Nicolai fecit Neap. 17.....' (I cannot read the last two digits). I am attempting to add a picture of the label to the listing.
