Italian Antique 19th Century Neapolitan Violin Ascribed To Ventapane, Pasquale
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:377149 | Brand: Unbranded |
This violin comes with no papers but everything (including Sotheby's catalog), points to a 19thC Italian violin from Naples. The concensus is that it is probably the work of Pascuale Ventapane whose workmanship wasn't that great but he knew what was important. Condition not perfect but it seems original in all parts - scroll is grafted to modern neck. Nice honey colored origin...al varnish.LOB 357.5mm
Please study the photos as they are an essential part of the description.
International bidders please contact for a quote as I have no idea what the charges might be before it is packed and weighed. For US, I'm thinking shipping cost will be around $40.
Thanks for looking. On Jun-03-19 at 14:33:56 PDT, seller added the following information:I have been asked about a label inside the violin. It bears a Gagliano label which reads 'Joseph Gagliano filius Nicolai fecit Neap. 17.....' (I cannot read the last two digits). I am attempting to add a picture of the label to the listing.
