Here's a beautiful, all-original 1906 Zonophone Concert disc phonograph. This is the 2nd style of the taper arm (rear mount) Concert, and it's as clean as they come. It's also in excellent working order. The phonograph is basically a fancier version of the Victor III (Zonophone was wholly owned by Victor in 1906), but with a highly polished all-brass horn rather than a matte black panel horn.
As you can see in the pictures, the phonograph is beautiful, with a cabinet that's close to mint, and an original cabinet finish that exhibits virtually no wear and has no chips, no dents, no dings, no missing chunks of wood, no problems. Just furniture quality oak that's clearly been pampered over the course of its lifetime.
The back-bracket is in excellent condition, with beautiful original decorations and original enamel. Nickel plating is original on all the parts. The cabinet decals are original and in perfect condition.
The governor and motor are clean and working properly, the original Zonophone reproducer has undamaged mica and sounds great. The 18" long all brass Zonophone horn has a 14" diameter bell and has been professionally polished. The original brass horn elbow retains a perfect original solder connection to the horn.
The turntable felt has been replaced. The phonograph is otherwise original throughout, including the crank.
Base (excluding back bracket) measures approximately 14" wide x 12 3/4 deep" x 8" high.
Overall, an exceptional 110+-year-old Zon-O-Phone that will arrive ready to play and enjoy (I'll include an early, acoustically recorded Victor record with it, along with detailed instructions that explain set-up and operation).
I've been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
That's about it. I will carefully prep everything for shipping and pack everything carefully and properly. Overseas bidders, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote and for my confirmation that I can ship it to you. The phonograph will be expensive to ship, as it will need to go out in two large packages (phonograph in one package; horn in the other). Auction participants with no prior feedback history, or with hidden feedback, should contact me before placing a bid. Buyer prepays and includes shipping.
