In the 25+ years I was in the restoration business in CA and a judge at dozens of Concours another pair of lights like these never crossed my path, they are exceedingly rare and unusual. When the bulb is surrounded by the amber translucent glass cone the light passes through the cone, on to the reflector and the projected light is amber. When the amber glass cone is withdrawn the projected light is white. The spring loaded mechanism which moves the cone is controlled by a cable operate...d from inside the car presumable on the dash. Very clever indeed. They are just under 12" in diameter and weigh just shy of 10 lbs. each. The bodies have some easily removable dents and as far as I can tell they have always been black and never plated. The rims are plated. There is no rust or corrosion. One new fluted lens needs to be made. When I was in CA 20 years ago the glass carver there said he charged 50 cents an inch to cut flutes and one lens has about 130" of flutes. I would imagine the cost would be 4 or 5 times 50 cents an inch today. I don't know what it would cost to restore these units, it would be money well spent - the price of exclusivity.
