Features: 16 musical styles, tempo and volume knobs, cymbal, clave, cowbell..., and bass drum sections.
Showcased at the 1964 NAMM show, Ace Tone released the FR-1. This is the first drum machine produced by a circuit called a diode matrix. Rows of pulses show the position of each instrument in the machine. It has 16 preset patterns, and four buttons to manually play each instrument - cymbal, claves, cowbell, and bass drum. You can press multiple buttons together to get over 100 possible rhythm combinations! Also has tempo and volume knobs.
