Rare Purple Rolex Day-Date President 18k Gold Ref 18078. Condition is Pre-owned.Up for auction is a rare and perhaps one of a kind Rolex day-date president. What makes this unique is that certain environmental conditions has turned the blue dial to purple. This is a genuine dial not refinished or repainted in any way. If you are looking for something a little different than a standard champagne or white dial then this is about as unique as it gets. Rolex does no...t really make any purple dials except for the 39mm op so this is quite rare. The condition is fair. There are signs of use and scratches all around and the band has stretch. Watch is not mint. Watch runs keeps time. The watch has not been polished in a while so the gold is very dark patina. Will fit a 7 inch wrist and comes with 2 links and a box. No papers or manuals. I have another purple dial white gold rolex i will be listing so check out my other auctions for rare timepieces. Although this watch should fetch $12, 000 i will start the bidding at $1 and no reserve. I respect that opinion. However I purchased this piece from a reputable dealer that is considered to be an expert. When I acquired the piece I was told without question it was genuine. With the watch under a loop I can see a slight gradient from blue on the outer edges of the dial to purple in the center and a fading effect towards the center which would be hard to accomplish with paint. I also know that some of Rolex blue dials from this era like the Blue dial submariner can turn purple. I have seen purple dial submariners many times and once owned a 18k submariner 1680 with purple dial that was 100% original. While I have never seen a purple president dial the evidence that some Rolex blue dials can certainly turn purple along with the fact that that I purchased this from a reputable dealer leads me to believe the description is accurate. However, to avoid any issues I am asking that you bid on this watch as a run-of-the-mill Day-date saphire crystal single quick and I will ship this watch with an extra standard champagne dial that I have. That way if you win the auction you can change the dial if it bothers you. I dont care if the watch bids for less than the true value as long as the buyer is happy with the purchase. So bid less that what you think its worth and assume it has a champane/gold dial please. The purple dial is a bonus if it happens to be correct.
