Here is a very cool old vintage Gibson Les Paul Ebony Custom from 1988. It was built in Gibson’s Nashville plant and finished on July 6th 1988 (serial 81888563). Of course being from ‘88 it has an Ebony fingerboard, not Richlite as Gibson use today on all their customs and still has its original Bill Lawrence humbuckers. It’s in all original condition with absolutely no breaks or repairs. It has somewhere between a ‘59-‘60 neck profile and weighs in at 4.7kg. Plenty of life l...eft in the frets (never been refretted, still has nibs), the truss rod is fine and the neck is straight. No problems either structurally or electrically. There is plenty of vintage wear as you’d expect from the decade. The binding has turned a great dark yellow and the gold hardware is nicely tarnished showing the silver nickel underneath giving it a real vintage feel. There is also some finish checking and some of the clearcoat is peeling from the headstock (pics). It is missing its pickguard. It comes with original blue lined Gibson Chainsaw HSC with all latches working & has the Gibson badge still firmly attached on the top (these usually fall off & are lost).
