Rare Vintage Rolex Gilt Tudor 7016 Circa Late 1960s With Vietnam War Provenance

Up for sale without reserve is a rare find that comes from the original owner, a fine and rare Rolex Tudor 7016 from the 1960s with "gilt" dial and hands. This watch is a tough one to let go because of its' provenance and historical significance. The original owner was an air force rescue parachutist and diver and a member of the Jolly Greens of South East Asia in the late 1960s! The enclosed DVD documents in raw footage, some of the rescues that were recorded with early... analog color film cameras. The video is approximately 30 minutes made directly aboard the Jolly Green Giant Sikorsky HH-3E aka Jolly Green Giant helicopters that were used by the the US Air Force at the time!
When I received the watch, it was not running well and needed a service which was performed in March 2019 by my watchmaker. The men in his regiment got these Tudor watches from the PX and replaced the flimsy Rolex bracelets with custom made bands.
Although the pictures are considered the most important description of this auction listing,
please do note the following observations:
DIAL: The original dial is in excellent condition has all original markers intact. The dial has gilt (gold) hash marks and white printing on a semi-glossy dial which is very even and without defect.
Hands: The original gilt hands are flat and are also in great condition. (see pictures)
Case: The case is in good condition despite years of daily use and previous polish in the past. The serial number is 621938 and is clearly visible between the lugs at 6 o'clock. the reference number as well, 7016/0 is clearly legible on the opposite side.
Case Back: The original case back is in good condition and has the date code I. 68 stamped.
Crystal: The service crystal that came on the watch was badly scratched and I have replaced it with a domed #19 crystal.
Movement: The movement is running strong and has just been fully serviced by my watchmaker and running perfectly. Watch comes with a transferable warranty.
Crown: The original twin lock crown was replaced with the current Triplock crown some time in the past by the previous owner.
Bezel & Insert: The bezel and insert are original. The current insert was on the watch when I received it, but it may have been replaced by the previous owner from a previous service. The pearl was missing and I added the current pearl that is on the watch.
Bracelet: The pictured customized bracelet is included featuring dive tanks and a parachute representing the primary equipment of the rescue gear used by the owner! a leather NATO strap is also included. if any questions please ask @sportrolexes
