NO RESERVE AUCTION - an old banjo that is looking for the right person to give it a little work and attention to make music with it again.I got two vintage Gibson "Mastertone" banjos from a local picker (check my other auctions for the other one). I don't know much about banjos so we'll just auction it "AS-IS" starting at $1. I will do my best to describe the faults and details for you and you can decide what you want to bid. If you are reading this I'm sure you know more about the ban...jo than I do. Maybe you can get a deal on something to fix up.As far as I can tell it is a Gibson Tenor Banjo with lots of inlays. There is a pearl block that says "MASTERTONE" on the fret board. I don't know what year it was made but suspect it could be from before World War II. The tuners are old Grover friction pegs and the tailpiece says Grover Patent. The skin part is torn and needs replacing. The strings are loose or missing so it needs new strings and the usual adjustments you would make to play it. One tuner collar is missing. There is a piece of binding missing on the neck near the body.The case is really nice with a blue velvet inside. We will pack it very safely for you. Someone showed me how to take the back off and the number stamped inside is 8488-44. There is a Mastertone label inside.
