The Aladdin Polish nesting doll set is extremely rare. Other than seeing it in Lefkovitz's Guide to Nesting Dolls, this is the only one I've ever seen in all of my many years of collecting nesting dolls. Lefkovitz's Guide lists Aladdin as a rare doll - in fact, in her book, the photo of the Aladdin doll was taken courtesy of The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, where it is on display. (Lefkovitz did not have one in her personal collection).
Like all authentic Polish nesting dolls,... the wood is heavier than the thinner wood typically used with Russian dolls. Label on the bottom of the largest doll reads Made in Poland.
This doll is in amazing condition, considering his age. Note the small amount of paint loss around the opening on Aladdin.
The largest doll is the Genie. Aladdin is the middle doll and the smallest is the magic lamp. Aladdin and the Genie wear yellow and red striped turbans on their heads. They sit with their arms crossed with red trousers and black shoes. The genie has a white beard and wears a turquoise shirt. Aladdin is garbed in a green shirt. He grows a black beard and mustache. The small lamp is painted turquoise and white. VERY rare find!
