RARE 1896 PHILADELPHIA HORSE SHOW ASSOCIATION POSTER COVER MAXFIELD PARRISH
Item History & Price
5th ANNUAL OPEN-AIR EXHIBITIONby MAXFIELD PARRISH1896 As a seasoned Maxfield Parrish collector and seller for over 30 years I can tell you that I have never owned this piece but once, nor have I ever seen this in anyone's collection or offered for sale!
This poster or cover or Print is the rarest of the rare and except for the one I have, I have only seen pictures of it in books. I have several authentic Maxfield Parrish pieces that I will b...e offering off and on in the near future. They will be the first piece for a short period auction.I believe this was the cover for the Philadelphia Horse shop program for May 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30th of 1896 at Wissahickon Heights, but although small could have been a poster or Print. Heavy stock with no printing on reverse this piece measures slightly less than 6" x 9" with image off center to left. Beautiful crisp lithography and in I would say perfect condition with no rips, tears, creases or bends! This piece would look incredible framed as I have kept it for years in an archival binder with other un circulated Parrish pieces!Guaranteed authentic 123 year old original printing as as described!
NOTE: I also have in my possession an original cover for "No Gentleman of France" for the "Mask and Wig Club" and a HUGE "Philadelphia Poster Show Poster" with the only known other existing copy being in the archives of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York!
