Rare RDI Halcyon Pioneer LD - 700 Laserdisc Player FOR PARTS/NOT
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:581927 | Brand: Pioneer |
Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan | Modified Item: No |
Up for sale is an extremely rare LaserdiscPlayer that was a part of the RDI Halcyon interactive Laserdisc, interactivevideogame system. Originally released in 1985 at a rumoured $2, 500, this gamingconsole was one of the earliest examples of interactive home entertainment. Unfortunately, the company that manufactured the gaming console, RDI Video Systems, went bankruptsoon after its release. The RDI Halcyon was prohibitively expensive and onlysaw a limited release to its investors ...making this one of the rarest consolesto find.
The Laserdisc player used for the gaming consolewas based off of the Pioneer LD-700 model but was rebadged as “RDI”.
If you would like to know more about this rare console, I have found this article:

This particular Laserdisc player for sale, unfortunately, does not work and therefore I am selling this as is/for parts. The unit doespower on and the player does read Laserdiscs, however I only get sound but NO video.
The unit has its original box (quite worn fromage) but there is no remote or user manual. This item will be shipped with thetransit screw tightened so be sure to loosen before using the unit.
Due to the fact that this is vintage electronics, I do not accept refunds. Thanks!
