Rare 1860 Butterfield Overland Stage Cover From San Francisco ”Via Los Angeles.”Ten cent (X) stamp in nice condition. Good handstamp postmark San Francisco CAL Dated Apr. 2 1860.Mailed to sea Captain Thomas W. Hutchinson of South Dennis, MA. I think Hutchinson mailed it to his wife. I acquired this cover with 75 letters between Hutchinson and his wife dated 1840 to 1867. Together they are a fascinating account of their relationship. She kept the home fires burning and was very capa...ble. He traveled the world on his own brig and sailed on the Flying Cloud to the Sandwich and Galápagos Islands. The cover was opened on the right side and might have a tiny reduction but it isn’t noticeable. A fabulous very uncommon historical cover. Free insured priority mail shipping within the USA.
