This is a vintage 1963 Fender Jazz Bass from early 1963. I have owned this bass for about 15 years, so I don't know it's origins. I just know that it's a tone monster. Here is what I know about the Bass: - The neck is stamped 7 feb 63 (that's an old Photo I took of it) - The pot codes are 304-63XX (I cant make out the week code, but my guess would be that it starts with a 0) - So yes the pots are stackpole, which is probably why this thing sings- The wiring is all original with the exc...eption of an added ground wire (probably from refin)- I believe the pickups to be original to this guitar. The really old foam piece is stuck to the bottom of the neck pickup and I couldn’t get the case off. I got the bridge pickup case off (that’s a photo of it), but it is stuck to the foam piece on the body. I don’t want to damage or break off any wires so I not going to mess with them further. - It is missing the strap button on the headstock- The logo on the headstock is long gone- The strap buttons on it are clearly not original- The tone knob is unoriginal and missing the screw to keep it in place (I think it came from some other vintage Fender) - It is missing the pick guard - It is missing the covers (I will include a bridge cover with the f logo if you want it. I was told it came from another 63 Jazz bass, but I have no proof)- I have no proof, but it is almost certain that the body had a refinish. The cherry burst is clearly very old and has checked up nicely. It also has a ton of buckle rash and paint chips. I like to think it adds to the look, but it is definitely a very old, naturally aged finish.- The case is original, but in pretty rough shape. The handle is gone and has been replaced with some kind of wire and one of the latches is broken off. Surprisingly, it does still function, but if your planning to transport this bass often, you'll probably want something better. You will not be disappointed with this bass, it has tone for days. This is a vintage guitar so it is sold as is with no returns (unless it arrives DOA). I will ship UPS air insured and it will be well packaged.
