Up for auction with No Reserve is a IMPORTANT 18thC FRENCH LOUIS XV GOLD ORMOLU MOUNTED CORNE ROSE BRACKET CLOCK. I believe this is the finest and most important Clock I have sold here on eBay in the past 15+ years. This is one of several important Clocks fresh from a grand estate, I urge you check all the others as well, though they can not be shipped together with other items, due to their fragile nature. I am not a Clock expert but with a little research and some help from colleagues I was able to determine this is an Important 18th Century Louis XV Ormolu Mounted Corne Bracket Clock complete with original matching Shelf and top ornament. The top ornament is absolutely fabulous, depicting a young child with their Dog, done in Gold Gilt Bronze. The whole Clock is very ornate as seen with Gold Gilt Bronze Ormalu throughout. I could not see any maker's marks except for a name written on the pendulum which I believe reads Wade Roslang.
Condition : The Clock is in excellent condition for being over 250 years old with signs of use consistent with age and as seen in our many photos. I believe the Glass portions are original, the front is cracked towards to the bottom but please view all the photos yourself or ask any and all questions. I also believe the small gallery portion on the shelf is a replacement but I could be wrong. We hung the Pendulum and the Clock ran for a number of seconds and then slowed down and stopped, also we advanced the minute hand and it rang once for the half hour and twice to indicate 2 o'clock. That said we sell all clock as is, as found, most likely in need of servicing to be in proper running order and as seen in our many photos.
Size : The Clock on Shelf makes for a large and impressive display, measuring 41-1/2 inches tall overall or the Clock itself measures 31 inches tall with the top section in place or 23-1/2 inches tall without by 16 inches wide by 6 inches deep. The Shelf alone measures 12-1/2 inches tall by 16 inches wide by 7 inches deep.
I urge anyone with interest to closely examine all the photos and bid to win, as I doubt you will ever seen another like this come up for auction without reserve here on eBay. Also as you can see we found a very similar clock sold for over $8000 U.S. and I am told they can retail for even more at Clock Shoppes but this Rarity will sell to the highest bidder no matter the final bid !
This is too large and heavy to be shipped with anything else, it is just not safe.
