Extremely rare mid 1950s Masi Track bike Most likely this is a custom made frame by the hand of the master himself - Falereo Masi No date code, It's stamped 55 .EUC.on BB and same on steerer tube , the frame size, and likely the customers initials Rare to ever see one with original thin champagne paint and decals intact Not many track bikes were made, and fewer survived 64 years without being repainted . This looks like it has some occasional touch up paint , ( see photos) ...Frame looks like it was never crashed, alignment is good, and none of the common top tube dents seen on track bikes Very finely detailed cut and shaped lugs , note long point seat lug seen in this era , before the 1960 Nervex lug era No cracks or dents I can see in frame . Chrome is good for its age... Note the Twin Plate style pista fork crown and very tight wheel clearance on front tire. This was formerly owned by the founder and rider of the Baltimore Cycling Club in the 1950s I personally love seeing an early un restored Masi bike ! , once restored with new paint it can never be original again!Reynolds 531 butted tubing. Note the 11 holes factory drilled in bottom bracket for lightness. Seat tube 55 c-top of lug Top tube. 55 cm c-c 31 1/4" stand over 140 mm head tube Magistroni Italy 3/16" Inch pitch track steel crank. 24 t (48 tooth equivalent ) 1955 Masi brochure shows this as an original pista crank set on Masi Pista bikes Diamond inch pitch chain, original type Campagnolo pista (no record) hubs from 1950swith early Fiamme rims , Clement Tubular tires hold air Campagnolo milled seat post , Early pedals Cinelli 110 mm track stem , unmarked track bars Ideale Classic French leather Rebour comfortable saddleYou can look at the Masi bob website to see the database he has on a few of these early bikes.
