The Ektra had many Advanced Features unattainable on Leicas, Contax or any other "Pre-WWII 35 mm cameras: Interchangeable backs, "Zoom Viewfinder" adjusts to All the lenses, "Coated Lenses", Extremely wide Rangefinder optics "Coupled" to all the lenses, "Parallex Correcting" Viewfinder, Rachet "Double Wind" to prevent film damage.
The Superb Ektar Lens (One of the Very First Lenses"Coated" to reduce reflections) is clean no scratches, cleaning marks or fungus, there is a slight amount of internal dust which will not interfere with use..
Focusing is smooth from 1 1/2 Feet to inf.).The camera is in Superb Condition. other than the shutter curtain which is torn (see photo 14) so I am selling it as a Collectible.. If you can find a repair person able to change the shutter curtains the camera should work perfectly. Otherwise it is a Magnificent display camera. It is priced accordingly.
The Black Fine Pebble-Grained Genuine Morocco Leather covering is complete and in Superb Condition with only some light signs of age and careful handling. The Beautiful Satin Chrome body has no dents or dings or brassing. Only a few light bright marks on the upper back chrome and base from handling but really not disturbing. The image in the "Parallex Correcting" viewfinder is very bright and the "Magnifying Rangefinder " is very Accurate and Bright.. The Ektra was one of the Very First cameras with a "Parallex Correcting" Viewfinder!! Internally the camera is very clean There are only the very lightest indications that the camera has ever been used.

The EKTRA was only produced in limited numbers. It cost $300- and was not a commercial success because its price. Kodak was hoping to "Outdo" the German camera makers. Unfortunately it was too expensive. The Ektra is an Extremely well built and has an Unique"1940's Look" making it an outstanding Vintage Collectible. Finding one in this Exceptional physical condition is really rare. .
