Please note that this is vintage electronics and is sold as is. I will package it carefully.
Please also note that you will have to buy a separate CR2032 battery ( for a few dollars ) at your local store if you want the battery backed-up clock to retain the time.
Here is an extract from the user manual ( will be printed and s...ent along with card and memory module ).
The Viper Accelerator Card ==========================
Thank you for purchasing the Viper Turbo accelerator board. With this board, you can greatly enhance the power of your Amiga, by adding the followingfeatures:
. A 68030 processor, which should make programs run from 4-8 times quicker.
. Upto 8 megabytes of 32-bit wide expansion memory (FAST RAM), using one industry standard SIMM module.
. A hardware clock/calendar, whose long-life battery may be easily replaced by the user.
. An optional math co-processor, with a clock speed upto 50MHz. This chip performs complex maths operations upto 50 times quicker! It can be used with programs such as Imagine and Vista Pro.
Installing The Viper====================
You can easily install the Viper Turbo without taking your computer apart.Just lift the hatch off of the expansion port, plug the board in, replacethe hatch, and you are ready to go in less than a minute. Please note some designs of A1200 trap door covers may bow slightly, thisis nothing to worry about and can be ignored. If required the Viper canalso be used without replacing the trap door cover!
Adding Memory to the Viper Turbo================================
If the Viper Turbo board that you have purchased did not come with anymemory installed you will probably wish to purchase and install a memorymodule. Doing so will make your 68030 accelerator work to it`s full potential. The Viper Board uses the same industry-standard Single In-lineMemory Module (SIMM) as the A4000.These SIMMS are available in various sizes.
Viper MKI is expandable to 8MB only
Installing the SIMM===================
SIMM modules were designed for easy installation. With your thumbs at eitherside of the board, push the top edge of the module back until the plasticguide pins come through the holes at the sides and the plastic retainingclips next to these latch firmly.
Trouble Shooting================
The Viper Board is easy to use and normally it`s operation should be troublefree. If you are having a problem, however, we suggest that you check thefollowing:
1) Ensure the Viper board is very firmly positioned in the trapdoor slot of your Amiga 1200. It should NOT be slowly pushed into position but instead pushed in with enough force (it will not break) that the board 'snaps' into position in one go. An audible crack should be heard! This technique ensures the Viper and its 150 different connections will all be making a good contact.
2) Try cleaning your expansion connector if a black screen arises on power up. Sometimes even a little dirt can prevent a good clean connection, it can be cleaned with acholol or meths.
3) Try removing the SIMM memory (if used) and re-inserting ensuring it is correctly locked into place.
4) Is a PCMCIA card installed? If so, try removing it and restarting your Amiga 1200.
5) Is the real time clock losing time or stopped working? Replace the battery with a CR2032 type, available from most drug or convenience stores.
6) Check your SIMM module runs at 70ns or better, the Viper may not reliably work with an 80ns SIMM.
