This is a MacIntosh MC 2255 Solid State Power Amp. It is in great working condition, and followingMcIntosh tradition, this model is rugged, solidly built, and possesses thatclassic McIntosh style and construction that makes it a timeless heirloom forthe audio enthusiast. The front panel and most of the top metal-work arefinished in black with front accents of silver and softly lit blue-greenmeters. The chassis is chrome-plated and is furnished with the side bracketsand hardware f...or the McIntosh Panloc system for custom installations. The MC 2255 isone of the most sought-after McIntosh amplifiers, and this unit functionsflawlessly in terms of power clarity, and operation. However, there are a couplecosmetic flaws and one functional flaw that I would like to point out.I inherited thisalong with other components form my father, so I do not know the unit’s completehistory. The unit was built between 1981 and 1986, but I do not know if myfather was the original owner. I do not have the original shipping carton, northe original owner’s manual. Concerning the unit’s condition, there is a smallamount of rust around the fuse holder, but the chassis is otherwise very clean. The knob for the “meter range” switch is also missing. I tried to source a newone form McIntosh, but they are no longer available. The one functional issue is that the leftmeter is not functioning. I don’t know if the meter is blown or if contactssimply need cleaning. However, other than the these few cosmetic flaws and the leftmeter, this unit works perfectly in all aspects of performance and function. For theaudiophile who isn’t afraid to get into a little restoration work or for theperson who isn’t that concerned about cosmetics but wants the benefit of superbMcIntosh power, this unit is a great buy. I have opened the auction with afairly low opening bit, so I hope this great piece of electronics ends up inappreciative hands.Happy bidding!Specs:· Power output: 250 watts per channel into 8Ω(stereo), 500W into 8Ω (mono)· Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz· Total harmonic distortion: 0.02%· Damping factor: 30· Input sensitivity: 0.75V· Signal to noise ratio: 95dB· Speaker load impedance: 1Ω to 8Ω· Semiconductors: 14 x IC, 85 x transistors, 47x diodes· Dimensions: 7-1/8”H, 16-3/16”W, 14-1/2”D · Weight: 82 lbs.
