Comes from Good Home, I am 2nd owner, used a few years; original owner known (very minor use).My current speakers are very efficient, horns, 15" woofers, not much power needed, so I went back to tubes.
Appearance Excellent, EXCEPT a few spots behind the glass front panel, see detail photo. These spots are not uncommon on these black faces, mine are minimal.I take lots of photos so you know exactly what you will receive.
WOOD CASE NOTES. Some come with wood case, or you might add a wood case to something you buy. I DO NOT recommend this, for 2 reasons.1. I believe in Maximum Ventilation, especially for longevity. The grilles collect dust reducing airflow. brush them, dust falls inside. This one, McIntosh factory found ZERO components needing replacement after 40 years! Yes, McIntosh sells the case, but .... A C32 pre-amp listing says heat causes it's ribbon cables to fail/melt. 2. Look at photo of top of Pre-Amp. Those trim controls (left in random positions after factory cleaning) are very important.The wood case covers those controls.They allow you to pre-balance the input of 2 phono, or use phono as high input for CD, Digital ....
The top amp power switch has two uses. 1. off when listening to headphones. 2. off, (main amp off) if using a second amp via the pre-amps second set of outputs, i.e. 1 normal output to transistor amp powered thru the pre-amp, second set of outputs to separately powered tube amps, or, as I used to do, into a tube receiver, Fisher 500C using it's tuner, amps. The flexibility is 'awesome old school'.
I offer unconditional returns for this and selling my 40-50-60- year old reel to reel tapes (that's why I started Uncle Win's Music) and haven't had any returns from over 150 sales. I only sell my stuff.
