1930 ' S LEITZ LEICA SCNOO RAPID WINDER, CHROME, With 1937 BROCHURE
Item History & Price
The Leitz Leica SCNOO-CHROM Rapid Winder was made from 1935 to 1945, and fits pre-IIIc Leicas with the large baseplate pin, from #159000. Earlier bodies can be modified to fit, from the Leica I on. Leica IIIc bodies won't fit because they are 1/8" longer than the classic bodies.
The SCNOO is a fun and fairly uncommon accessory (HoveRarity Grade 4, "V...ery Unusual"). It's useful practically, and it also adds interest to any display of Leitz equipment.
CONDITION Cosmetically, winder shows some signs of use——mainly just small marks on the top and sides of ribbon drum, and some brassing to handle, tripod mount and edges (see photos). Seems to be working well—braided silk ribbon is intact.
November 1937 Leitz Brochure has a picture of a SCNOO on a Leica IIIa (Model G). Brochure shows just slight wear, mainly on cover.
