DESCRIPTION
FOR SALE:This is from a very large camera estate that has been sitting unused in storage for many years. Note: I am not a photographer, collector nor expert. I am selling estate items. I am not able to assess condition in any professional manner. This item is being sold AS IS and may need cleaning and restoration to be used. PLEASE ask any questions important to your satisfaction BEFORE bidding.THIS IS A RELIST DUE TO NON-PAYIN...G INTERNATIONAL BIDDER. NO CONTACT, NO PAYMENT. PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU INTEND TO BUY. ITEM: This is a large brass portrait lens. The side of the barrel is engraved 8x10, Leclair Portrait W.P.B. Philadelphia. There is a slot in barrel for fixed aperture inserts. There are nine aperture inserts included with the auction. The tabs are marked 1/1, 1/2 ... through 1/6. I find no reference to Leclair lenses, but every time I search I get the links to Petzval lenses which look the same. I can't find any numbers that indicate focal length, etc. However a bidder on another lens suggested the following: Holding the lens near a flat surface, the distant image comes into focus when the lens is about 11 inches from the surface. The barrel measures 7 3/4 inches in length and about 4 1/2 in diameter. The glass measures about 3 1/2 inches in diameter, There is a ring with four screw holes - I assume to attach it to a camera. I also see quite a bit of flowery haze across the front lens, which I see from other listing indicates separation.
