this disireable and unique French powder flask depicting Diana the... Huntress.
Riling`s 1953 Powder Flask book shows this rare flask as figure 1358.
"Diana the Huntress is shown in the picture panel with fluting above,
all enclosed within an egg and dart band".
"The back face is decorated with rosetted forms in lozenge-like divisions".
The flask that I offer for auction has been made of zinc and has a special coating applied to make
it look like copper.
Both original suspension rings are present.
The charger has a common spring and the spout has a 4-step graduated scale marked: 55 - 60 - 65 - 70 (decigrammes).
Dimensions: total length included spout is 205 mm (8.1 Inches) - the widest part measures 80 mm (3.1 Inches).
Condition: the body retains 95% of the original copper coloured finish.
The bottom plate needs to be resoldered.
Charging unit is complete and in excellent working order with a strong spring.
This is one of the rarest of French powder flasks!
