offeredis a superb art deco guilloche enamel marathon "super-liter" liftarm pocket cigar lighter with matching case in original box. the nickel silver platedlighter features an unusual mechanical mini snap up liftarmmechanism with oversize flint wheel. the body features a wonderful engine turned design with fancy shape enamel applique. the matching cigarette case has an unusual shape applique. this is quite the extraordinary matching set. the applique model was much more expensiv...e than regular marathon models as seen in 1927 advertisement. the marathon "super" was first invented in 1927 bya.h.metcalf of attleboro, mass. metcalf and alsodesigned for baer & wilde. this important model is his only cigarlighter [see utility patent]; the cigarette case features a push in snap up mechanical lid that also has a bar inside that raises the cigarettes as lid opens. marathon was a qualitymanufacturer of lighters - compacts - cigarette cases - combination case lighters and more. the "super" isone of the most unique liftarms of the art deco period and highly collectible. the well made lighter measures about 2" tall x 1-1/2" wide and is in excellent unused untested condition. the mechanism should work with proper service but lighter sold as a collectible. the fuel screw has its spare flint holder. the back of the cigarette case does have a 1/4" dent that detracts and is hard to see in photo. the box does show age and minor wear but still showy. overall- fabulous art deco marathon "super-liter" liftarm pocket lighter and case in original box for yourcollection. the most important and fantastic 1920's marathon enamel set knownad - patent not included in saleusa is priority registered ship cost. overseas is express airmail except the SHIP COST to italy-china-HK-eastern europe-russia-spain-greece-taiwan- via usps priority mail only-$85.
