For sale is an interesting old samurai sword brought to the states after WWII. I purchased from an individual that was liquidating the estate of their uncle, who was a prominent collector of WWII memorabilia. The sword came with a note attached to it with military cotton/copper chord (pictured). The note reads, "Lindberg - Iwo USA Marines". After doing a quick google search, I discovered that there was in fact a Lindbergwho served in the US Marines in Iwo Jima, Charles 'Chuck' Lin...dberg. I also found out that Charles Lindberg was one of the individuals in the photograph of the first flag being raised in Iwo Jima!!! Besides the note, I am yet to verify that this sword belonged to Chuck Lindberg... I tried reaching family members of his who might be able to verify this, but have not been able to make contact contact. Even without its provenance, this sword is spectacular in it's own right. The hardware on the sword seems to be of a high level of age and craftsmanship, indicating that the sword could be of an equally high quality. The hand guard is very interesting, and ornate in it's design (pictured), and bears the remnants of several japanese characters which were gilded onto the hand guard possibly denoting the maker?. The sword measures 31" I am open to offers.
